BeRang: A Wake-Up Call for India’s Teenage Mental Health Crisis
With one in five Indian teens reporting depression or lack of interest, and nearly 40% identifying stress and anxiety as their primary mental health concerns, BeRang sheds light on the often-overlooked emotional toll facing today’s youth.
The film, directed by Raahul Panshikar, highlights how issues like social media addiction, academic pressure, and emotional neglect can lead adolescents toward isolation, substance abuse, and even destructive behavior.
Through its compelling storytelling, BeRang encourages open communication within families, emphasizes the importance of emotional support, and calls on society to destigmatize mental health issues. The narrative is not just cinematic – it’s a social catalyst.
Empathy, Support, and Listening: Voices from the Launch
Speaking at the event, Punam Kirloskar advised parents to avoid pushing children into predetermined career paths, instead encouraging exploration and embracing failure. “Support your child’s individuality and be present emotionally,” she emphasized, also noting that children should try to understand their parents’ perspectives too.
